Inverness Distillery Tours

The Scottish Highlands are one of the biggest whisky producing regions in the world making it the perfect place for whisky lovers to spend an exciting weekend away. Join one of the many distillery tours to discover the inner workings of some of the oldest distilleries in the world, where traditions have changed little since first production.

Glen Ord

Just west of Inverness on the edge of the Black Isle you will find one of the oldest distilleries in Scotland. Founded in 1838, they continue to malt their own barley and use the same slow distillation process that was created when this distillery first opened its doors. Venture inside to discover exactly how their soft, sweet malt has garnered an impressive reputation worldwide.

Tomatin

One of the highest distilleries in Scotland, this impressive distillery can be found in the Monadhliath Mountains, just south of Inverness. Established in 1897, they produce delicate yet rich malts with the soft waters that run through the mountains. On this tour, your passionate guide will talk you through the whole production process before offering you a sample of the different expressions. You can even take the opportunity to bottle your own whisky to take home as a truly special souvenir.

Glenmorangie

Glenmorangie is perhaps one of the more famous Scotch whiskies. Located north of Inverness near the town of Tain, they produce distinctive malts thanks to a few select processes. They use the tallest stills in Scotland (as tall an adult giraffe!) to yield light, pure vapours that creates a smoother whisky. Visit the distillery and warehouses to get a full picture of what makes this dram so great.

If you plan on visiting distilleries further afield, we are happy to help arrange a hire car or private transport to make your trip possible. Booking an overnight stay with us can complete your experience as you enjoy a mouth-watering evening meal and then test your knowledge by sampling the variety of whiskies in our Whisky Bar. Rest head your head in our super soft beds and get a good night’s rest before heading home to share your stories.
