Live Music Venues

Inverness is one of the main musical centres in the Scottish Highlands. Playing host to a busy schedule of major pop, rock and classical events throughout the year. So if you’re looking for venues to enjoy live music in Inverness, here are some of our favourites, all within easy reach of the Kingsmills Hotel.

Eden Court Theatre

As well as theatre breaks, Eden Court hosts plenty of live music concerts and performances throughout the year. This is the largest combined arts centre in Scotland. The music programme features everything from famous touring artists to tribute acts and local bands. In summer months, the venue also puts on an outdoor festival called “Under Canvas”, which takes place inside stretch tents on the lawns. Hootenanny

A “hootenanny” is a party with folk music and dancing, and Hootenanny in Inverness certainly lives up to its name. This live music venue hosts a variety of traditional and folk bands on the ground floor. While indie, hip-hop, ska and rock bands play upstairs on the Madhatters stage. There are regular ceilidhs too, where you can join in with traditional Scottish dancing, which is great fun, even for beginners! Gellions Bar

Visit Gellions Bar in Inverness for live music, 7 nights a week. They have their own house band, the fantastic Scottish folk band Schiehallion. And their programme features a range of folk stars and upcoming new talent. As a live music bar, there is also a wide choice of drinks to enjoy, including beers, gins and whiskies. MacGregor’s Bar

MacGegor’s Bar is a music bar and ceilidh house with a packed programme of live music from singers and musicians of all genres. The bar’s founder, Bruce MacGregor, is a member of the Scottish fiddle group Blazin Fiddles, and you may find him playing in the bar if you’re lucky!
